To be totally honest, before I made the decision to buy the Lexmark X4650, I knew very little about printers in general, much less a wireless printer like the X4650. I had always worked for a company that had basic, inkjet printers, and usually I had someone do my printing for me.

However, the commercial flooring company that I worked for, laid me off, and I no longer had access to a printer. I planned to start a home business, and I certainly was going to need a printer. I asked a former colleague of mine, who is kind of a computer "geek", what type of printer I should look for.

In his home office, he has a Lexmark X4650, which he described as a "wireless", all-in-one printer. That sounded good to me, as my wife and I both use our laptops extensively. He described the features, and it sounded like just what I needed. However before going ahead and buying the Lexmark X4650, I wanted to shop around a little bit.

I found another wireless printer online, the Canon MX860. It seemed like a good value, and had lots of good reviews on Amazon.com. However, it had an included fax machine, which I did not need. Also, the Lexmark X4650had a lower price, and included free shipping.

Just to make myself feel good, I took a look at a non wireless, all-in-one printer. The Canon MF3240 also had excellent features and a good price, but it also had a scanner that I didn't need. So, I read one more positive X4650 review, got the "o.k."from my wife, and I went ahead and decided to buy the X4650 printer!

The Lexmark X4650 Is A Good "Fit" For My Home Office!

The X4650 arrived, as promised, in 3 days. I anxiously unpacked it, and was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy and compact it is. It fit beautifully on an assigned section of my workspace.

Being somewhat technically challenged, I had fears that the Lexmark X4650 would be a challenge to set up.

NO worries!

The included installation wizard made the set up a breeze! Setting up the wireless to configure with both our laptops could not have been easier! So far, I was REAL impressed!

Also, I couldn't believe how fast this unit prints! It sends out color at 18 sheets a minute, and black and white at 25 sheets per minute! BLAZING fast!The resolution is superb as well!

The Lexmark X4650also features a flat bed scanner, which we have only used a couple of times. It seems to have good resolution and acceptable speed.

My wife is an avid photographer, so the Pictbridge feature is perfect for her. She can print pictures directly from her digital camera, without using a p.c!

So far, we are thrilled with the Lexmark X4650! It has been the perfect addition to our new home office!
